I have skin cancer that needs to be removed in what they call a Mohs procedure.
Of course, they say the only minor surgery is the one that happens to someone else. I hope you have a better day ahead than I do.

Don’t sweat it too much — my dad has had 3 of these, my SIL has had at least 5. They truly are routine, which is doctor slang for “I do this all the time, quit worrying”
But see, the patients DON’T do this all the time. So I hate the word “routine” in medicine. My pastor’s wife is having full anesthesia laparoscopy in her abdomen today. Totally routine, they say...

could be worse, i’d take skin cancer over ball cancer. i’d definitely take minor skin surgery over major ball slice’n’dice surgery

I’m trying. Still bilious from a weekend evacuating myself. A friend of my dad had to have a melanoma removed from his arm a couple of weeks back, fingers crossed on it not having spread. “Whew”, said we. “Cancer sucks.” Then on thursday it turned out my mom (66) also has cancer. So...

My father’s going under the knife today as well, he’s getting a stent put in a blood vessel that serves one of his kidneys.

OTOH, ball cancer is eminently curable. And they give you a nice silicone replacement. If the skin cancer is melanoma, they say “melanoma is what gives cancer a bad name”.
(this applies to metastatic melanoma
)
